Ecobio pioneered organic certified coffee production in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta’s northern slopes in Magdalena province back in the early 90’s.
Today, Ecobio manages 3 plantations, Tolima, Kyoto and La Sierrita, which are all Organic and Rainforest Certified. It is still mainly planted with Typica and Caturra varieties, yielding a unique cup profile that is prized by specialty coffee buyers mainly from Japan. These plantations are all shade grown at an average altitude of 1,250 meters above sea level.
